At Moholoholo, our wildlife rehab centre forms the heart of a broader conservation effort. Alongside the rehabilitation facility, we offer a range of nature-based facilities that support education, ethical tourism, and hands-on involvement in protecting South Africa’s indigenous wildlife.

Situated in the shadow of the majestic Mariepskop, which forms part of the mighty Drakensberg mountains, our unique wildlife rehab centre is home to many of South Africa’s injured, orphaned, and abandoned wild animals. As a dedicated rehabilitation facility, we aim to treat, raise, and successfully release each patient back into their natural habitat. With a focus on veterinary care, habitat preservation, and ethical practices, we support the health and well-being of our indigenous animals.

Nestled beneath the majestic Drakensberg mountains lies Moholoholo Forest Camp, an intimate lodge situated amongst Africa’s huge Quinine trees and home to a variety of indigenous bird and animal species. Guests enjoy a peaceful environment that supports our broader mission of wildlife rescue, education, and habitat conservation. This hands-on experience allows visitors to witness our efforts to rehabilitate and care for orphaned wildlife in a natural setting.

Located in a Lowveld Acacia Woodland, Mountain View is ideal for a bush breakaway. We are approximately 60km from the Kruger National Park’s Orpen Gate and have become a preferred destination for travellers seeking both relaxation and meaningful connection with South Africa’s indigenous wildlife. Your stay helps support our wildlife rehabilitation work and the long-term care of animals that cannot be released back into the wild.

Situated on the banks of the Blyde River and hidden under lush Jackalberry trees and surrounded by beautifully kept lawns, Ya Mati is the ideal venue for that very special wedding or family celebration. It offers a tranquil setting that reflects the values of our conservation organisation, where each visit helps us care for sick and injured creatures and maintain a positive impact on local wildlife populations.

Since 1998, the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre (the ‘Rehab’) has been taking internationally and locally based volunteer students on board. These dedicated individuals play a key role in animal rescue, rehabilitation, and day-to-day care. From orphaned rhino calves to sick cats, each arrival receives professional treatment from our experienced team. Volunteers gain a world-class, hands-on education in wildlife care, conservation ethics, and the realities of poaching and habitat loss in Southern Africa.

Moholoholo offers exciting and practice-based courses which introduce you to a wonderful world of tracks, signs, and tracking of Africa’s wild animals. Professional wildlife guides lead these FGASA-accredited courses and provide a deep understanding of animal movement, behaviour, and natural habitat conservation. Participants gain insight into how these skills support wildlife rehabilitation and the long-term survival of species in South Africa.

Moholoholo is proud of the contribution it makes to nature conservation by educating today’s youth in a fun and friendly environment. Our Junior Wildlife Programme involves learners in engaging, age-appropriate activities focused on animal rescue, species protection, and the importance of maintaining healthy habitats. Learners are encouraged to get involved in meaningful ways, helping to build awareness and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
